About Us

Jost Van Dyke

Jost is a small island about ˝ an hour from Cruz Bay. We can clear into customs here. While the Captain is clearing you in, walk up and down the beach / street, you will find the famous Foxy's at the end of the road. Grab a rum punch and sit awhile. If you are lucky Foxy will sing a few songs for you. He is very entertaining. Ok ready to snorkel a bit or do you feel like another drink?

Option A: (Snorkel) Back on the boat travel east to take a swim at sandy spit. The only thing on this small island is a few palm trees, great sand and wonderful snorkeling. Swim and play here awhile. Not quite lunch yet but you are thirsty? Travel back a bit and stop at Taboo. There is a dock here to tie up at, a nice bar and restaurant Chill.

If the waves are up on the north shore of Jost a short walk along what looks like a goat path takes you to the bubbly pool. Way fun! A pool has formed where the rocks open up to the sea. Big waves will crash into the little pool and give you natures' version of a whirlpool tub. Ok, back to the restaurant for a lunch of native food to pizza very good. Or take a few minutes and shop the boutique at Taboo.

Option B: (Drink more) West from the customs dock. Want to check out a few more bars on Jost? White Bay on the far west end of the island is home to great rum shacks, One Love, The Soggy Dollar, Ivan's, Sandcastles… this is one fun half mile of beach. Lunch can be had at any one of the many small restaurants and bars along the beach. Depending on the condition of the party a short 30-minute ride to Norman Island and the famous Willy T awaits. Any stories you hear out of the place are most likely true. This is not a destination to take small children.

The William Thorton is a big old vessel converted into a floating bar. This place tends to get a bit crazy, a free t-shirt is yours if you jump off the top naked! (Used to be shirtless but too many were jumping) The Willy T not only has drinks but also food is served here. Tried of sitting in a bar? Want to check out the caves on Norman? Have the captain buzz you around the point. Take a slow cruise back to St John to check back into customs. You will remember this day: if that famous Caribbean rum didn't get you.

Today we charted aboard Flyaway Charters a 26' Glacier Bay Catamaran. Our day offered beautiful Caribbean sun and awesome scenery around St. John. Our gracious captain assured a dry and stable ride. We joked like a "magic carpet". The spacious deck let everybody relax. Today was unforgettable fun. I can't wait to charter Flyaway again.
